Our Causes
Dr. Matthew Kettman is a family physician in Waterloo, Iowa. He has been playing in various bands for 20 years as a lead singer and has been writing original music over that time period. After participating in a medical mission to Cap Haitian, Haiti, he met a local pastor and agreed to start an elementary school for the children in an underserved area nearby Bois Rouge.
Influenced by Chris Cornell, Led Zeppelin, and Nirvana, he is attempting to reach out with his music to the world to get the school- Bel Avenir up and running. Currently there are 63 students, four teachers, and an administrator; but they are operating out of a makeshift shack. He has been recording the album over the last 2 years with friends and family (The Southpaws) and hopes to make his music a vehicle to help fund the school.
